Hi Sam

John - loyal IFS member here :-)

The podcast has been a great friend and loyal companion. The newsletter is ace too and it’s awesome hearing and reading your stories.

Proper funny and so much resonates in terms of resetting & focusing on the right stuff.

You really help people and your work has got me through a lot and helped (don’t wanna bore the f*ck out of you with the details)

However I do spend a lot of my days talking in Raceys accent now - which upsets many. The squares.

Thank you so much and please don’t stop :-) x

Thanks for getting in touch John. I'm glad it helps in some way. I am always particularly touched when people say the pods help through tough times aswell. I mean, we are only talking shit but I suppose that can be a helpful distraction sometimes. Keep obn being better and remember to just rest. Sam

My internal monologue is nearly always in Raceys accent now! TFTM is a gleaming light of pure fun and nonsense. Brightens up these very odd days.

Mine is too. Racey is my favourite character that we do. A complex and compelling man. Thanks for listening

Really enjoyed the podcast this week, had seen Peter on The Hunted and had no idea of his back story. Good to see regular blokes talking about this stuff in a regular bloke way. Love Betmax Babylon too, though I watched Tenet on Bruce’s recommendation and had to switch it off after 30 minutes. Didn’t have the faintest idea what the hell was going on! Give me Trading Places any day...

Hahaha, I trust Bruce on most movies but there is 1% of the time when he is wrong. This was one of those times, clearly.

Cheers again Sam. Love reading/commenting on these each week and they help a lot. Was howling at what Peter Bleksley said about recording yourself when on the gak. Luckily never touched it but wouldn’t want to hear what I’d said myself when pissed! Would love to hear more about how you stopped yourself getting back onto the booze/gear in the first few days/weeks?

Thanks Dex. Yes I will write in more detail about those early days which are very often the hardest bit. The line I always remember someone telling me 'No-one ever regretted not having a drink.' I thought about that whenever I was tempted.

Nice one Sam. These letters absolutely make my Friday afternoons at work a lot less dull

Spot on again Sam - when I stopped drinking I was scared to go out with my mates for fear of not being ‘the daft lad’ I always was - but it gets a lot easier and waking up the next day clear headed is a godsend - my family and my band are my hobbies nowadays and it gives me lots of fulfilment- keep it coming Sam!

I still go to the pub sometimes with my mate and have a coffee or a lemonade. My friends don't seem to give a fuck and even if they did i wouldn't care. I just don't feel like booze would add anything that special to the occasion Andy more.

That should have said 'anymore.' Anyway thanks for getting in touch as always and keep on going mate!

Got to say, if I go to the pub I enjoy a Heineken zero or becks blue (also enjoy San Miguel zero at home)- still get a weirdly superficial buzz (maybe psychosomatic) but nice to have the taste and pint in front of you without the consequences- also enjoy watching mates become less coherent and start to talk absolute toss - but only to a point, then it’s nighty night and tucked up in bed before 11
