This episode made me proper cry. Another reason I’m an avid follower of the Reset is because I’m the mother of an addict/alcoholic son. He’s in his early 40s now and got hooked as a teen. I've been to hell and back too many times to mention. I joined a 'parents of addicts' group, which should be renamed mothers of addicts because it’s rare for a dad to attend. We were all there to get help for us. The way we'd dealt with it in the past had clearly not helped and was often enabling. It was also putting us on track to an early grave. We had to change and accept the power stop their addiction didn’t sit with us. As soon as I separated the addiction qand my son, life got easier for me. All I felt was against the addiction, not my son. He was still in there somewhere. It broke my heart listening to James talk about it; for him and his mum. The quilt my own son felt sent him into the cycle James describes.
Again I learnt so much from this honest, articulate and informative account of James' journey. I wish him, and his mum, all the luck in the world with his recovery and crusade. I hope we get the changes so clearly needed in the Betting world
Thank you Sam for another great guest and interview.
Ps I know of on line gamblers who had a coke addiction too. Not a good combination. They were literally never off it. What came first?
I consider myself really fucking lucky I've never been into gambling. I reckon if I had had that combined with my booze and iron filings, I'd be dead.
This was a really great listen and once again, was a great example of how to interview. Nice work Sam
