A timely post, seeing as I handed in my notice to my overstressed, overstretched current job the other day.....

Now working my notice, happy in the knowledge that the end is in sight and I can take on agency work to suit my needs....... Thanks Sam

Love it. My 'favourite' is the people sending emails stupidly early or stupidly late, just to show everyone how many hours they work.

Well said Sam. I have got next week off; I’m on my own with the dog as my good wife and son are going back to the UK for a week. I have zero plans other than walking the dog and watching TV. We will spend a lot of time snoozing as well. I am as excited about this week off as I can remember; I am super stressed at work and am going to take the ‘just rest’ philosophy more seriously than I have for probably 10 years. I’ve bought a load of food that needs minimal prep and can be eaten sitting on the sofa, some newly discovered 0% IPA and a ton of fruit. Thanks for legitimising and articulating resting. Roll on next week!

This was me before I met my husband. Overstretched in a pointless council role that wasn't the job I actually applied for but seduced by the fancy job title. The only challenge was sorting out the mistakes

Of others. I left & now make lovely people lunches in my home town a twenty minute walk from home with the best boss ever. Money & status are far from everything & I'm far happier since I realised that. Thank you Sam for sharing this with as it may help others get to a similar point.

Well said Sam. I worked for a while at The Corrymeela Community in Northern Ireland. It’s been working on issues related to peace and conflict resolution since 1965. A key thing I took from there work is the idea that “we need to be willing to waste time with people, not just spend it”. I now teach peace and conflict resolution stuff at the University of San Diego and place a huge emphasis on this. As I’ve thought about this over the past 25 years it’s become increasingly more clear that you can’t invent resilience in a crisis. Our ability to overcome shit, individually and as a community, depend on our willingness to recognise the value of connecting with the things and people that matter, not because it’s on the to-do list for today, but simply because it’s the right thing to do. Keep up the good work. I appreciate all you do!

Love the way you capture the little things. Bits of joy here and there are precious. I struggle to sit still but am slowly getting there.

Nice one Sam - I left a high stress job 7 and a half years back to clean windows- I could earn a lot more than I do, but I put myself and my family first and work just enough to be content and build a future for my boys - it may be an old cliché, but it is so true that you only get one crack at life (as yourself just in case there’s any re-incarnies reading this) - and you ain’t gonna get remembered for the number of hours you slog, you’re gonna be remembered for that time you dressed up as a telly tubby or when you let the boys bury you up to your head at the beach- I love my leisure time and frankly can’t wait to retire - keep em coming’ Sam x

Hi mate, huge fan of your stuff. Your reset pod and weekly updates are a highlight of my week (and that’s even as someone who’s IFS!). Wondered if you’d got anything in the pipeline to talk about sex/porn addiction? As a bloke in his twenties I know first hand and from talking to pals it’s a big one at the moment and is on the rise. Thanks so much for your wonderful work mate, it’s vitally important and beautifully executed.
